ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of control procedure for incoming piece-part acceptance specifications. This procedure ensures that piece-part acceptance specifications are prepared in a systematic manner and takes into account the quality standards required of the company’s end product. It ensures that a control is exercised over the issue and the revision of these specifications to prevent unauthorized use and revisions that could result in the acceptance of nonconforming material. The procedure concerns primarily the engineering section of the quality assurance department, who are responsible for the preparation and revision of piece-part acceptance specifications and for controlling their distribution. Specification Services is responsible for the control and issue of the specification masters. Depending on the type and complexity of the component and the required tests, the acceptance specification is sectionalized in the same manner as for "in-house" acceptance specifications prepared from customer specifications.
