ABSTRACT

This chapter offers a detailed view of particular topics of computer-organized cost engineering. The reader who wants to build cost engineering computer tools on his own will find here a design agenda and a detailed description to allow him to do just that. One could not have reached that far in the book without being duly impressed with the centrality of hierarchies in cost engineering. The mathematics of hierarchies and tree structures was discussed throughout the text, computer representation of trees was alluded to elsewhere, this section is devoted to one aspect of trees which has not seen much advancement throughout the years: their geometric representation. The seed of the concept is widely accepted and known. Construction like other things may come “gold plated”, “silver plated”, or in “bronze”.
