ABSTRACT

The Quality Revolution that is underway today is addressing these issues. The Deming Philosophy and the concept Total Quality Control focus heavily on breaking down these organizational barriers to improvement. Based on these approaches Taylorism in many US companies is an endangered species. The most advanced Japanese companies are now taking advantage of this cycle to cut their design time drastically, plan for new product introductions, and plan their transition to CWQC. Since the New Tools were introduced in the US through GOAL in 1984, a number of US corporations have begun to use them with excellent results in a wide variety of applications. The “nonstatistical” charting techniques such as the Flow Chart, Check Sheets, Trend Charts, Pareto Charts and Cause and Effect Diagrams appear to be too simple. The most effective group to assemble to do a KJ is one that has the needed knowledge to uncover the various dimensions of the issue.
