ABSTRACT

The customer is the ultimate consumer, but there may be some intermediate customers such as field service organizations that install and maintain machines, printers who buy inks and other consumables. Once the customer issue has been decided, then starts the brainstorming session to determine what the customer requirements are. The usual rules of brainstorming are used; for example, all ideas are valid. The current product standing also tends to be rated on a scale of 1 to 5, although any scale can be used. The weight is a calculation that takes importance, scale-up, and sales point. From this, the weights can be ranked on a Pareto chart from high to low. On all characteristics, some assessment of technical difficulty is now needed.
