ABSTRACT

The value of this model is that it shows the integration of the various quality tools with a set of deliverables using QFD as the framework. The cornerstone of the system is the Customer Requirements and Engineering/Technical Features matrix. One rarely hears about QFD as a systems approach to product planning. When a systems approach is used, management acceptance is obtained because managers can see the value. The matrix looks at the Manufacturing QC Steps and the Process SPC parameters. The matrix in the flow looks at the Process SPC parameters and the Final Customer Specifications. At this point, PCIs are documented, the SPC implementation is in place, specifications are confirmed, manufacturing aims and tolerances are established, and Corrective Action Guidelines are in place. One use of QFD that is still in the early stages is as a Supplier Partnership tool. When trying to establish Supplier Partnerships, there are some phases that customers and suppliers go through.
