ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses change, opposition to the new, and reasons for rejection of ideas. This may seem to be a digression from the main theme: the selling of a completed computer system to management. Training will consist of introducing the ways the system can be used by the plant or facility management group. Since it is a personal computer based system, demonstrations can be handled with management on a one-to-one basis in the safety office. The status report can give a scenario of the plans for meetings, seminars, and conferences to encourage use of the system. Given the goal of helping to improve management efficiency for the particular manager, it would be unusual for that manager not to be interested. A quality control system within the computerized safety data system will pay dividends by assuring the manager and upper management that the system is a reliable tool.
