ABSTRACT

If good selling techniques are used and everyone is convinced about the need for the personal protective equipment the condition would turn into a win-win situation. Computerization of a safety data system is not a new idea. It is something that has not been in wide use in the profession. Although computers have been in use for many years, safety is an area in which computers have not been used as effectively as they have been in other professions. Thus, if management is to approve a computerized safety data system proposal, then the need for such a system must be convincingly demonstrated. The high cost of manual preparation of safety reports is another important piece of information. This chapter mentions that there may be opposition to safety. Opposition can arise unexpectedly from any source. Other possible sources of opposition are those who believe that computerization of reports and the use of a computer confers status.
