ABSTRACT

Faraday’s electromagnetic tensor will be called the tensor F, of which the contravariant components are given from the quadri- vector potential. By definition the Levi—Civita tensor changes sign by the permutation of two consecutive indexes. In quantum mechanics especially, the equations of motion of a system cause intervention of the potentials and, not intervention of the fields. The physics results, in quantum mechanics as in classical mechanics, are not altered by a change in gauge. The scalar and vector potentials thus appear as the intermediaries of calculation; only the values of the fields and in any point in space count.
