ABSTRACT

The basic role of water treatment facilities is to make available, in sufficient quantities, water having the appropriate quality for a variety of uses and at reasonable prices. The design of adequate facilities to attain this goal involves several phases:

Comparison of available sources with expected needs (evaluation of the master plan)

Flexible interconnection of unit processes into a global treatment scheme (definition of the flowsheet)

Accurate detailed design of each process to be operated (project formulations and design)

Provision made for future increased water needs or stricter quality standards
