ABSTRACT

This book is not a design manual for separation processes and equipment. Such books already exist in Schweitzer (1979), King (1981a), Perry and Green (1984), and Rousseau (1987) and are primary references for designers of separations equipment. Rather, this book is intended for the operator of proposed or already existing equipment to help him or her to understand how the equipment works. It should also help in troubleshooting unsatisfactory performance during operation. The book is focused primarily on the separation processes encountered in hazardous waste minimization. It relies heavily on more easily understood graphical treatments rather than computer-based calculations.
