Electronic Display Industrial Research Association of Korea (EDIRAK) is the Korean equivalent of the United States Display Consortium. Regulatory support and some supplementary funding are contributed by the government; the actual sponsors are the member companies. Committee members are responsible for proposal evaluation, adjustment of research directions, and evaluation of progress reports. EDIRAK proposals are advertised a month before the evaluation takes place. Proposal evaluation takes about a month, and funding begins within two months after the announcement. Proposal evaluation is conducted by a committee of 10 to 20 university professors who generally serve as volunteers. A university can only submit a joint proposal with industry. Collaboration between industrial researchers and university professors is often based on personal relationships. Usually, professors do not take on administrative aspects of the projects, so the companies manage the administrative responsibilities.
