ABSTRACT

This chapter shows the primary performance and constraint requirements for each of the major subsystems. Subsystems will be involved in trade-offs at two levels: the aircraft and the subsystem level. The air conditioning subsystem has a number of key functions: Provide Temperature Control of Air Supply, Provide Pressure Control of Air Supply, Provide Distribution of Conditioned Air, Provide Air Filtration, and Provide Ventilation. The ice and rain protection subsystem is not a single collection of elements, but rather separate elements each with its own synthesis solution. The pneumatic subsystem also provides air for engine starting, cargo heating, and water pressurization. Another key function of the indicating and recording subsystem is Provide Annunciation. The navigation subsystem uses air data to satisfy a number of navigation functions. The functions of this subsystem are to provide evacuation, flotation, interior fire extinguishing, and miscellaneous emergency capabilities.
