ABSTRACT

We have determined how a contaminant is generated, how much we can expect to enter a particular medium as a pathway, and how it may travel across the pathway. Let’s turn our attention to the receptor. For each COC, what is its toxicity with respect to humans and wildlife? Who is exposed? Or will be? How many people are possibly affected? How many live where the exposure is? Work there? Play, shop, or go to school there? What ecological habitats are affected? What kinds of wildlife are exposed? Domestic animals? Crops? What is the magnitude of the dose received, particularly by humans, directly, or indirectly?
