ABSTRACT

The source code of the product should conform with the programming standards that have been alleged to apply within the company. The auditor should ask to see the suite of source code files corresponding to the particular version to be purchased and select one at random. In this way, the real value of the quality management system can be tested, and the various threads of the team’s assessment process can be brought together and summarized. The file should be examined in respect of each of the principal categories mentioned under the programming standards. In my experience, compliance or a lack of it becomes clear very quickly indeed. The direct relationship between the one and the other optimizes the efficiency of the reporting task, and has been found in practice to work extremely well. Once the draft has been examined, comments exhausted, edited as required, and recommendation approved, the draft is endorsed by the management and evolves into the final report.
