ABSTRACT

The movement of moisture under conditions of incomplete saturation of the rocks in the zone of aeration has long been studied in hydrogeology. Mathematical analysis of the process of moisture transfer is highly complex. All the parameters of the process depend on the moisture condition, that is, on an unknown function, because of which differential equations are non-linear. Generally moisture transfer is studied as a unidimensional vertical process. Investigation of moisture transfer is important for raising the quality of hydrogeological assignments to irrigation projects and also for prognostic accuracy of changes in the hydrogeological environment in areas under irrigation. In conditions of quasi-steady moisture transfer the trend of vertical water transfer can be estimated using equation. The fourth conclusion underlines the fundamental position of the hydraulic status of investigations of moisture transfer as a process of filtration: the velocity and discharge of infiltration waters can be estimated by Darcy’s equation.
