ABSTRACT
The employer or owner engages the consulting engineer for design work, for elaboration of tender documents and for site supervision during the construction period. The aim of the contractor is to produce the work ‘at warranted dimensions and properties’, according to the tender documents or according to agreed modifications thereof. The contractor is requested to do the work according to given drawings and technical specifications. The employer is entitled to have the work done according to the state of the art. Water pressure tests are an integral part of all investigatory and grouting work for sealing purposes. For grouting work in rock it should be specified that both procedures downstage and upstage will have to be applied, if tubes-a-manchette are not selected exclusively. The parties involved should do everything to facilitate the management and the performance of the work.
