ABSTRACT

In this chapter we set out the factors perceived as being opportunities and impediments to implementation of the actionable recommendations. Since its inception, ARCHIVE has built partnerships and has worked with in-country local partners, stakeholders, and government representatives. These partnerships support the host communities by implementing interventions at the intersection of health and the built environment to combat diseases through simple modifications to existing structures. In the Idenau municipality the stakeholders are the representatives of the community, ensuring that all voices are heard. The opinions and insights of local stakeholders are valuable throughout the process of the intervention including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the intervention. The local Mayor is also key in accessing resources from the region and the national government so ensuring buy-in and support has been vital to moving the project forward. Among the challenges faced by ARCHIVE, the lack of accurate health data available on the community was one impediment we faced during the initial stage of the needs assessment. In addition to the lack of access to basic necessities and challenges faced by low-income communities like in the Idenau municipality, another limitation for these communities is the gap in technology.
