ABSTRACT

ARCHIVE was commissioned by CROSS UK to conduct a Needs Assessment for Idenau. The objective of the needs assessment is to disseminate the results of a needs assessment conducted to identify, assess, and analyze challenges and opportunities in the area of disease transmission and prevention, and to promote the need for development in the Idenau municipality. The secondary data collection was conducted, and we realized early on during this stage that there was insufficient literature and health data available. The Idenau Council Development Plan from 2010 provided us with the necessary information on the municipality. The primary data collection was conducted using a mixed method analysis which followed the Participatory Rapid Appraisal method with a sample size of 1,000 individuals from Idenau. Volunteers from the municipality were trained on how to conduct the survey. Consent was given by participants via a signature or fingerprint. A community discussion was conducted among the residents of Idenau. Data from the survey were collected on paper and later recorded onto a computer. Data was cleaned in Excel and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Responses from open-ended questions were grouped based on themes, and descriptive statistics were used to calculate the percentages of common responses.
