ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author discusses the derivation of the systems or technical requirements from the customers’ requirements and the derivation of specialty engineering requirements. Additionally, the team develops a measurement plan, a quality management plan, and a conceptual information model. Several specialty engineering disciplines are employed within the Vee model alongside the systems engineers, program, and project managers to apply their specialty engineering disciplines. The software engineering follows a similar life cycle as the Vee model, developing the concept of the software as the system is being conceptualized, eliciting software requirements within the requirements and architecture phase, designing detailed software specifications within the design phase, then verifying and validating the software code within the verification and validation phases. Security engineering focuses on building systems that remain secure despite malice or error. Security engineering requirements incorporate elements or systems that proactively and reactively mitigate system vulnerabilities.
