ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author discusses placing the system into operation, maintaining, and eventually dispose the system. The responsibility and accountability, from the perspective of the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the system is now on the owners. Once the system is deployed and installed, including the system elements, sub-system, system, processes, procedures, policies, etc., it should be integrated and tested to ensure that the system works properly as installed or deployed. Certification typically includes a formalized method of ensuring that the system operator has the appropriate skills to operate the system for their role. Certification can include training, required skills, and qualifications. The training plan is useful to provide the initial training for all operators in order to equip them with the skill and knowledge to operate the system and provide a continuation training to ensure currency of knowledge.
