ABSTRACT

Systems engineering and systems thinking is a body of knowledge brought together from multiple disciplines to understand the patterns, elements, and connectivity to better design, identify potential risks and failures, and build a better system that meets the customers’ requirements. System of systems includes a number of enterprises, service, and product systems brought together to achieve a common purpose. Systems thinking, the systems approach, and systems engineering have become more important in the world today. Complexity of our systems increases due to the speed of technology change and shorter life cycles. The evolution of complex systems is facilitated by their hierarchical structure and the relationship of the system elements in a decomposition of elements to each other. Systems thinking consider patterns of behavior, the connectivity of system elements, and the impact of the interactions of systems elements impacting other parts of the system.
