ABSTRACT

This chapter describes life cycle models, including the Vee model, which is the life cycle and deals with a definition of a methodology, process and tools, and a life cycle. There are three main life cycle categories of methodologies: waterfall, which is also called linear or predictive, evolutionary or incremental, and iterative or agile. The framework aligns to the Vee life cycle model’s phases and then breaks each phase into more detailed activities that are performed within each phase. The chapter covers the meta models that represent the system architecture of the information developed to develop, design, test, and operationalize the system. The detailed design phase is where the system is designed by the specialty engineering discipline areas, while the systems engineers focus on the integration and interface points to ensure connectivity and an integrated system view. The System Verification and Validation phase validates the entire system from the perspective of the end user.
