The characteristics of steel reinforced concrete are important including its structure, different cements (binders), supplementary cementitious materials (fly ash, slag and silica fume) aggregates, mixing, and curing water, the admixtures that are necessary, and the different forms of reinforcing steel including conventional, prestressed, and post-tensioned. Fibre-reinforced concrete also needs to be mentioned.
