ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses big data management and analytics tools. It discusses cloud computing concepts. The chapter discusses concepts in semantic web. It discusses analysing and securing social networks. Most of the big data systems as well as the cloud applications are hosted on Hadoop. The Apache Mahout provides an environment to implement a collection of machine learning systems. There are multiple deployment models for cloud computing. Hardware virtualization is a basic notion in cloud computing. Ontologies are essentially representations of various concepts in order to avoid ambiguity. Numerous ontologies have been developed. Clustering techniques will form groups when there are no predefined criteria. Due to data mining, users can access information about the various members of social networks and extract sensitive information. In addition, some of the cloud platforms, especially as they relate to big data technologies, were also discussed.
