ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the basic of analog sensors and its features. It also discusses the interfacing of analog sensors with 8051 and NuttyFi with the help of circuit diagram and programming. Analog sensor converts the environmental parameters into electrical signal like voltage and current. The output voltage may be in the range of 0 to 5V. There are different types of sensors, which produce continuous analog output signal. The signal produced by the analog sensor is proportional to the change in the environmental parameter. A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor provided with a sliding or rotating contact to control electrical devices such as volume controls on audio equipment. Light dependent resistor is an analog sensor, which can detect light intensity of a light source, also known as light intensity sensor.
