ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 presents an introduction to the Closed-Loop Supply Chains (CLSC) and the motivation to adopt this concept in business. Network design is an important strategic aspect to ensure efficient management of any supply chain. In this chapter, we focus on introducing the CLSC network design and the factors to consider while designing a CLSC. Designing CLSCs are relatively complex compared to the forward supply chains, as it integrates both forward and reverse product, information, and financial flows.
