ABSTRACT

“Drive Schemes of Piezoelectric Transducers” treats the piezo-device driving methods in order to minimize the losses and maximize the transducer efficiency, in particular, at off-resonance capacitive region, at resonance or antiresonance frequency, and at inductive region between the resonance and antiresonance frequencies. In the off-resonance (pseudo-DC) drive, the inductor or “negative capacitance” usage is the key, while in the resonance drive, there are two drive ways: (1) resonance/antiresonance (resistive) drive with self-oscillating circuit and (2) power minimization (reactive) drive with impedance converter capacitor usage.
