ABSTRACT

Soybean crop may be determinate or indeterminate types on the basis of their vegetative growth. The vegetative growth stages of soybean are well defined. Seedling growth is important and need proper care. The growth of leaf area, shoot and root are of sigmoid nature along with dry matter accumulation. Similarly, in general changes of CGR,RGR and NAR varies during ontogeny as well as with the environment. Thus water requirement changes in different phases of growth. Water requirement is about 450 to 500 mm in a life period. Vegetative growth is influenced very much with temperature, water, photoperiod and abiotic stresses like flooding, drought and salinity. Endogenous and exogenous plant growth regulators also play an important role in the development of vegetative growth. Node formation is a very important phenomenon related to flowering and yield. Apart from all theseproper nutritions is one important concept for management of the vegetative growth.
