ABSTRACT
In general soybean is a shortday plant. Usually photoperiod day and night length as well as day and night temperature determine the initiation of flowering with the formation of flowering hormone. Light plays an important role in it. Different branches and nodes affect differentially. Flower is that of Papilionaceous type may be of different color. Stages of flowering and pod development are well defined. Flower abscission and pod abortion are also phenomenal. These are related to photosynthesis, temperature, hormonal balance and ultimately the mobilization of metabolites to the developing flowers and pods. Thus, environmental factorsspecially shade influences the reproductive development of soybean along with endogenous cytokinin content.
