ABSTRACT

The negative impacts of climate change provide the highest risks for developing countries. The increased droughts, flooding, or more erratic storms have first of all negative impact on economic development gains and future development trajectories of the poorest world countries. The main drivers of poverty in developing countries are closely linked with climate change impacts. Therefore, adaptation to climate change impact and preparation for future expected climate impacts is essential for advancing sustainable and equitable development of world countries, especially the most vulnerable one. This chapter deals with climate change impact on international migration flows and analyses the climate change influence on rural and urban infrastructure and population. As these issues provide more risks for developing countries, the main focus is concentrated on countries which are most vulnerable to climate change impacts and need urgent adaptation actions, help, and resources from more advanced developed countries.
