ABSTRACT

In this chapter, variogram modelling that is an essential component of all geostatistical methods is introduced firstly, then followed by univariate geostatistical methods, including: 1) simple kriging; 2) ordinary kriging; 3) universal kriging; and 4) block kriging. For these kriging methods, the functions of krige , gstat in the gstat package are used to demonstrate their applications. The functions okcv in the spm package, krigecv in the spm2 package, autoKrige in the automap package and estimateParameters in the intamap package are introduced for optimizing relevant parameters and/or estimating predictive accuracy. The function krigepred in the spm2 package is introduced for generating the spatial predictions. The gravel in the petrel point data set in the spm package and the pb.df grid data set in Chapter 1 are used to demonstrate the applications of these methods in R .
