ABSTRACT

Supports which can be designed by simple structural basics are covered briefly. Complicated design of supports such as saddles, rollers, and circular base rings is covered in detail. Stresses in the shell due to the saddle support are derived based on Zick analysis. Design of saddle parts is computed from structural basics. Effects of stiffeners at saddles are explained with illustrative examples. Rectangular base plate and circular base ring analysis is covered in detail with examples of varying data for a better concept. Lifting and transport arrangement and design of lifting parts and their effect on equipment are covered to select a safe and simple arrangement.
