ABSTRACT

Incendiary compositions are used in the destruction of buildings, installations, oil fields, ammunition depots and destruction of own documents. These are used as solid incendiary compositions or gel incendiary compositions. Solid incendiary compositions do not produce much gas but they produce extremely high temperatures.

This chapter provides the role and types of incendiary compositions. It explains the mechanism of thermite compositions, typical solid incendiary compositions, non-toxic incendiary compositions, typical gel incendiary compositions, factors affecting efficiency of thermite compositions, differences between solid incendiary thermite and gel incendiary compositions and special requirements of incendiary thermite compositions. References are provided at the end of the chapter.
