ABSTRACT
Pyrotechnic ammunition manufacture demands an understanding about the basic requirements of pyrotechnic ammunition. Pyrotechnic ammunitions have a variety of shapes and sizes and produce a number of special effects. Pyrotechnic ammunitions differ from high explosive ammunitions. Design of ammunition may be arrived at by GSQR of user, own research and design, transfer of technology from outsource, reverse engineering and design change to improve performance. This chapter provides basic requirements for pyrotechnic ammunition manufacture. It emphasises on proficiency and skill in manufacture. It makes one aware of general ammunition design and development, features of a pyrotechnic ammunition and devices, environmental and mechanical handling tests, stages of ammunition development and production, life cycle of ammunitions, documents covering specifications, drawings, proofs and packing.
