ABSTRACT
There are a large number of pyrotechnic ammunitions and devices, and thus it is essential to have classification and nomenclature of each type for ease of proper identification, production, storage and despatch from production units to concerned depots. The acceptance report of ammunition and devices as well as proof performance also requires classification and nomenclature of ammunition along with the lot details. Proper scientific nomenclature is essential to differentiate a type of ammunition from other types. This chapter provides the overall general classification based on shape, service use, tactical use/type of functioning and distinct nomenclature and mixed nomenclature
