ABSTRACT

In this chapter, supplementary material is provided to add to the contents of the first eight chapters. Two case studies are presented here: firstly, that of a light General Aviation (GA) airplane, and secondly, an example of a rigid airship. Complete aerodynamic derivatives are worked out for the GA airplane from basics. Coupled longitudinal-perturbation dynamics model is derived and a modal analysis around a level trim condition is presented in detail. In the second case study, equations of motion for rigid airship are presented and small-perturbation dynamic model are derived. Airship dynamic modes from a hover cruise condition are discussed with an aim to distinguish them from rigid fixed-wing airplane dynamics modes.
