ABSTRACT
This chapter revolves around defensive cyber techniques as a means of developing a layered defense against possible attacks. This includes human as well as technological responses. The basic technology of firewalls is reviewed before moving to cloud-based firewalls, shields and malware/virus detection systems. This chapter finally ends with a look at ransomware and possible responses as a means of introducing countermeasures.
