PM (Preventive Maintenance) is a long-used strategy for taking care of assets. It is traditionally a clock drive inspection and maintenance activity. Newer iterations rely less on the clock but rather are initiated by a condition (CBM - Condition Based Maintenance) or even by continuous monitoring (IIoT - Industrial Internet of Things).
Your PM program is the core effort to anticipating failures and extending the life of your assets. When we discuss reliability from the perspective of the maintenance department, almost all the tools and tricks are stored in the PM task lists.
