ABSTRACT

The complex and nonlinear nature of optimal power flow (OPF) problem has been recently solved by applying nature-inspired optimization algorithms. The cuckoo search (CS) algorithm is one such approach based on the brood parasitism of cuckoo species to solve OPF problem. CS provides better convergence rate with high efficiency. It has some deficit for selection process and hence it may be overcome by incorporating best decision-making fuzzy logic technique. The best limits for the reactive power is provided by fuzzy approach, and CS approach is used to find the optimal real power with minimum loss and less generating cost. The output results show that there is considerable reduction of 15% in real power loss and fuel cost reduction by 1% with improvement in voltage profile in comparison with other alternative approaches.
