ABSTRACT

The objective of the optimal power flow problem is to optimize predefined objectives, by optimally adjusting the control variables of the problem so that the several techno-economic constraints are satisfied. In order to attain this goal, an effective implementation of optimization algorithm is crucial. The new hybrid evolutionary algorithm developed recently with combination of real value genetic algorithm and differential algorithm termed as real-coded genetic algorithm differential evolution (RGA-DE) hybrid algorithm is applied for solving the above problem. It has good selection and crossover operator; however, the deficit is less focus on mutation operator. DE is applied for solving the problem related to the process of mutation. Three flexible alternating current transmission system devices, viz., static synchronous compensator, static synchronous series compensator, and unified power flow controller, are used in this work. The results obtained by implementing hybrid RGA-DE are minimum generating cost and less iteration time.
