ABSTRACT
The application of nanotechnology in the oil and gas industry has received great attention in recent times due to its cost-effectiveness and environmental-friendliness. The unique properties of nanoparticles that make them inevitable in high temperature and pressure EOR applications are extensively discussed. Also, the changes in reservoir rock and fluids and injection fluids that help in mobilizing the trapped oil and its displacement are discussed in length. In this regard, nanofluids and nanoemulsion flooding in EOR have been given special emphasis in this chapter with their detailed mechanisms.
