ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on activities that keep the well up and running, or restore production after a well goes down. The purpose of production engineering is to maximize production, and thus revenue, while lowering operating expenses. Monitoring of well production is a key part of production engineering. It also includes well decommissioning, or plugging and abandoning after economic production from a well is over. Operations costs related to this discipline are also explored.
