ABSTRACT

Refining is done to get useful products out of crude oil for use as fuel and feedstock for production of various chemicals. These products include gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Crude oil components are separated from each other using heat. They are then converted to more valuable products and treated to remove impurities such as sulfur. Gas processing is also done to separate gaseous hydrocarbons from each other. Pollution from refineries is addressed and the process of carbon capture using amines is described.
