ABSTRACT
The biotic stresses such as insects and diseases affect the growth and productivity of maize. Several intensive research studies were undertaken in studying their effects. Recent research advances assisted in the identification of physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms of these stress factors. The research advances that occurred are briefly reviewed in the following sections.
