ABSTRACT

This chapter has the introductory description. After discussing commercial and technical aspects of entrepreneurship, it briefly mentions manufacturing and services entrepreneurship. Manufacturing entrepreneurship specifically relates to the production or manufacture of items. Manufacturing space is conceptualized in the context of work-in-process inventory pertaining to the component production. It is discussed with reference to raw material and final product, in addition to the work-in-progress. Quality and backorders are introduced in the production/manufacturing context. Occupied space is visualized in terms of manufacturing quality consideration. Suitable approach is described for specific inclusion of the production backorders. This chapter especially establishes a need to relate the maximum production-inventory level to the space requirement in order to have a generalized approach.
