ABSTRACT

Quality has many facets and can be built-in during the stages such as: research and development phase of the proposed component/product; substitution of existing material for enhanced quality; selection of appropriate technology for manufacturing; and choice and installation of suitable production facilities. This chapter focuses on the quality scenario when actual production is going on a regular basis in a manufacturing organization. After providing a basic understanding of the quality aspects and also mathematical treatment, many examples along with the generalization have been rigorously analyzed. This is in reference to the fluctuation in operational factors and appropriate response to such aspects with specific inclusion of quality criterion.
