ABSTRACT

It is highly advisable to also assess the quality of the studies included in a meta-analysis. Study quality is frequently examined using domain-based assessment instruments, particularly the risk of bias tools developed by Cochrane (i.e. RoB 2, ROBINS-I, and QUADAS).

It is conventional to report these types of risk of bias assessments in a graphical format; for example a summary figure, displaying the share of low and high risk of bias studies on assessed domains; or traffic light plots, in which judgments are presented for each study individually.

This chapter covers how risk of bias plots can be generated directly in R, using the “robvis” package. It describes the required data preparation, and how summary and traffic light plots can be created with this package.
