ABSTRACT

This is a self-contained chapter on viscoelasticity of composite materials and laminates composites. It includes a comprehensive description of analytical linear viscoelastic models, Boltzman superposition principle, the correspondence principle, frequency domain representation, and micromechanics of viscoelastic composites. Viscoelastic Abaqus simulation of laminates with isotropic viscoelastic laminas, as well as viscoelastic Abaqus simulation of microstructure with isotropic viscoelastic constituents (fiber and matrix) are tackled in this chapter. For orthotropic laminas or constituents, user programmable features such as UMAT are explained in Chapter 12.
