ABSTRACT
The pandemic of COVID-19 has caused fear and concern regarding the global health safety. Scientists and policymakers worldwide are currently working in collaboration to find out the evidence-based treatment and ways of implementing them in order to treat patients with COVID-19. Globally, institutions, pharmaceutical companies, universities, nongovernment organizations, and several groups of independent researchers are involved in the research and development of vaccines, new antiviral agents, medical devices, etc. This chapter covers the research and development of potential investigational therapies in relation to COVID-19. It is to be understood that the research and development are progressing at a rapid pace and new data are becoming available every day, and thus the information presented here about the cutting-edge research may change over time. This chapter focuses mainly on vaccines, neutralizing monoclonal antibody therapy, immunotherapies, and medical devices.
