ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the flux in a new structure of the coupled inductor for a three-level converter and proposes a detailed design method to select proper core materials, such as amorphous or nanocrystalline, to achieve the minimum volume or weight. A low-carbon economy can be achieved by electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs. The flexible integrated charging functions are derived from split converter-fed four-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM). The chapter provides an optimization method for an SRM fed by an asymmetric bridge converter. One fault diagnosis method is proposed using single current sensor monitoring the chopped bus current; the other method is proposed using dual current sensors scheme monitoring the upper freewheeling and excitation bus currents. The simulation results of current states from certain positions of a three-phase 12/8 motor and its power converter are analyzed.
